CFA资格证书是由CFA Institute主办，1962年成立，于1963年第一次CFA考试以来，CFA考试已经历经了近60多个年。CFA资格证书在行业中的认可度与含金量发展至今被业界高度认可，截止2010年10月，CFA协会拥有会员103,109持证人，持证人91,555持证人，会员遍布全球137个国家（CFA报名时间具体一览表）。
英国证券及投资公会（SII）会立即给予CFA持证人英国证券及投资公会（SII）的会员资格（MSI）；另外，对符合相关经验要求的CFA持证人，对CFA持证人即授予成为资深会员（FSI）。
